Tulpenvaas Amélie - enkel draak facing inward so the twoThis tulip vase, model Amelie, takes the form of a tiered tulip pyramid (tulipiere) after 19th century Qing dynasty models. Each tier carries a ring of small spouts, hand painted with a floral design in a camaieu of cobalt blue on a white ground. The quality comes from the raw materials: pure kaolin clay and feldspar (petuntse). The mix is fired at around 1400C, which produces a fully vitrified, non porous body. That hardness and density are clear
