Description
With a hint of tribal art in the background I have reduced the bull head to a curved sheet of clay but allowed the clay and the kiln to give character and life to this piece
I’m thinking maybe Ernest is looking out to sea taking his eyes slightly out of focus
apart from the fashion of the sitter this would be impossible to date next to his work from the 1930s onwards
Stylistically it is pure Camberwell School of the period and if I were a betting man I would back three young students of the day–Christopher Pemberton
I’ll miss it if it goes
