また菊文様は古くから貴族や武家で使用されてきたことから「高貴」の意味を持ち、菊の花には強い除菌作用があり薬として使われたことから「長寿」の象徴でもあります。

吉祥紋様が豪華に染められた江戸褄（えどづま）という着物から。

型染で雲取りの隙間に青海波をあらわした小紋をアロハシャツに。

縞柄は江戸時代「粋なお洒落」の象徴的なデザインであり、線を重ねることで「調和」を意味していました。奢侈禁止令のあった当時は庶民が派手な色柄を着ることができなかったため、縞柄や格子柄などの幾何学文様が発展しました。
