Wooden Carved Rocking Cradle antique-side The colours would once haveJiangsu, circa 1880 This unusual item is from Jiangsu province in Eastern China. It was used as a child's crib, set on rockers to help lull the baby asleep. Each side is panelled, with mountains and floral designs in carved relief. The top rail is supported by rounded, turned posts and above each corner sits a carved 'foo dog' mythical guardians of Chinese culture that were thought to provide protection against evil for the child sleeping inside.
