型染で細かな四角文様や菱文様を表現した小紋。

型染で細縞を染めた小紋をアロハシャツに。縞それぞれに極細やかな文様が入れ込まれています。 なかでも代表的な吉祥文様である亀甲文様は武士に好まれた文様であることから 「強さ」「権威」の象徴とされています。 地紋に織り込まれた立涌文様は「運気上昇」「出世」の意味を持ちます。

30以上もの工程を経てつくられる大島紬はしなやかで光沢があり丈夫で軽い、最高峰の織物といわれます。
