Antique Japanese Chobadansu Meiji Era 1868-1912 Document Tansu Chest Sugi 52"H Ikebana/Bonsai as well as paraphernalia forKnown as a chobadansu (document tansu chest), this chest was made in the Meiji era (1868 1912) of hinoki (cypress) face and sugi (cryptomeria) case and interiors. The choba dansu was a special chest used to store document, accounts, money and other valuables for a business enterprise. This chest has a very unique configuration of 6 drawers 2 cabinet areas behind sliders and 2 special shelves for the storage of documents and tools behind the safe door.
