Not much is recorded of Whitten’s life other than he was an artist

His ability to give shape and expression to the bizarre through his artwork is simply incredible and always great fun

Probably the most important – by conventional standards – painter in the catalogue

as he is internationally collected and sits in many public collections including the Tate and what’s more was a much respected professor of painting at the Royal Academy Schools
