Prussia, State. A Merit Cross For War Aid, Mounted United Republic of maker marked "20"(Verdienstkreuz fr Kriegshilfe). Instituted on 5. 12. 1916 by King Wilhelm II. (Issued 1916 1924). A Maltese cross constructed of war alloy; the obverse inscribed Fr Kriegshilfsdienst (German For War Aid), with an oak wreath on the bottom half of the cross; the reverse with the Royal Monogram of Wilhelm Rex; with double loops for suspension, with some of its period original ribbon, measuring 41. 90 mm (w) x 41. 82 mm (h), weighing 36. 0 grams, mounted
