A silver gilt Maltese cross consisting of a white enameled cross patte, centre obverse as red enamelled medallion with the name of the Order inscribed in gilded letters, surrounded by a white circle with the motto (God with us) inscribed, with two laurel branches underneath, reverse a white background with the inscription 19 1878 (18 February 1878), atop the cross is a royal crown,
