the newly established republican National Order of the Southern Cross is awarded to foreigners only
in silver inscribed Italian “Unita D’Italia 1848-1870” on obverse with reverse bearing a bust of King Umberto I
pin marked with swan punch mark on ring denoting silver composition
The order has not been awarded since 1975 by the Greek state after the abolition of monarchy and today is awarded only by the Greek Royal Family and has six classes: Corden
Germany, Heer. An Officer’s Sabre, Lion’s Head Version, by E. & F. Hörster Republic of s units wore a variety(Heer Sbel fr Offiziere mit Lwenkopf). A very well preserved Heer Officers dress parade sabre, measuring 105 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features an 82. 5 cm long, nickel plated, magnetic steel blade with a gentle curvature and which retains factory original sharpening to the tip. A wide fuller runs the majority of the length of the upper edge of each side of the blade. The obverse ricasso bears a makers mark of E. U. F.
