Sea Turtle Cap Adventure/Sun Hats This one depicts a roadrunnerThe gulf shores of Texas are the nesting areas for several types of sea turtles, including the Kemp's ridley sea turtle. These endangered sea turtles lay their eggs all along the gulf shore. Conservationists then move those nests to special protected areas, several of which are within Padre island National Seashore. This process helps to increase the number of eggs that hatch, and the number of hatchlings that survive and make it into the gulf waters.
