In silver, the obverse bearing the head of Queen Victoria facing left inscribed VICTORIA REGINA around the perimeter, the reverse bearing a crouching lion on a plinth in front of a bush inscribed "SOUTH AFRICA'' around the top perimeter, rim officially engraved 1210 PTE J. ALLEN O. B. A. S. C., with tailors copy clasp 1879, suspension slightly bent, minor marks, two notable edge bruises near the N of ALLEN, in near extremely fine
