Mecklenburg-Schwerin. A Griffin Order, Commander’s Cross, C. 1918 Auction hallmarked on the bottom of(Greiffen Orden Komturkreuz). Issued 1884 1918. A silver gilt Maltese cross with very think red enamels on the arms of the cross; the obverse with a round central silver gilt medallion depicting a Griffon; the reverse plain with red enamels on the arms of the cross; with a replacement loop suspension (the suspension ring appears to have been pierced through the upper suspension by force); with its period original ribbon; measuring 61. 85 mm (w) x 62.
