A Military Order Of Saint Stephen, Grand Cross Breast Star, C. 1840 consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac (Begräbnis-Schärpe)(Sacro Militare Ordine di Santo Stefano Papa e Martir). Instituted by Pope Pius IV in 1561. A bronze gilt breast star featuring an eight point star with smooth rays, with a super imposed Maltese cross extending in each knee of the star, with interior red enamelling, between each arm of the cross lies a decorative Fleur de Lis, the reverse presents a single pin with dual stays, and numerous rivets to secure the enamelling of the cross and the Fleur de
