A Posthumous U-Boat War Badge Award Document & Death Notice (Kia), 1943 Auction Archive GURSCHNER / WIEN VII/2The posthumous U boat War Badge is named to Bootsmannsmaat (Boatswains Mate, lowest NCO rank) Heinz Hoffmann in honour of his commitment resulting in him being killed in action. It is dated to June 5, 1943 and carries a facsimile of the Leader of U boats West, Captain at Sea Hans Rudolf Rsing (19052004), a recipient of the Knights Cross. The death notice is dated to April 7, 1943, the sender who signed in blue ink is the Commander of the 6th U boat
