Constructed of silvered copper with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Patte, the obverse with red enameled arms and a central red enameled disc bearing a silvered Bremen coat of arms, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of FR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE 1914, unmarked, measuring 40. 51 mm (w) x 44. 55 mm (h), weighing 20. 1 grams, with minor flecking of enamels evident,
