Abbot, Grenadier Guards consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac Instituted 30 September 1866 byInstituted 1899. In silver, full size, rim officially impressed 8312 PTE A. ABBOTT. GREN: GDS:, with CAPE COLONY, ORANGE FREE STATE and BELFAST clasps, minor wear, in extremely fine condition. Footnote: Private A. Abbott, of the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards, is on the medal roll for the South Africa Medal for the Second Boer War. The Grenadier Guards served with distinction in the Second Boer War (18991902) as part of the elite Guards Brigade.
