Baden, Grand Duchy. A Golden Merit Medal, With Case, C.1875 consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac with "Liberated by Allies"(Goldene Verdienstmedaille). Instituted 30 September 1866 by Grand Duke Friedrich I. (1869 1881 issue). Constructed of gilded silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse consisting of a leftward facing profile of Grand Duke Friedrich I, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of FR VERDIENST (FOR MERIT), within an oak leaf wreath tied together at the bottom by ribbon, unmarked, measuring
