Alamannenring Kemnat, 3e eeuw, brons Toverstokken late medieval appearanceThis ring is based on an original made of gold from Kemnat, 3rd century. The Alemanni were a powerful alliance of Germanic tribes that formed in the Upper Rhine region in the early 3rd century; their name means "all men" and indicates an inclusive alliance of clans. The first mention of the Alemanni comes from Cassius Dio (213 AD), following the campaigns of Emperor Caracalla. In 260 AD they conquered the Agri Decumates and expanded their territory
